Gradebooks

It was interesting to see the many options a teacher has when setting up a gradebook. I do not have any experience in this area and I am amazed at the different features that these programs have to offer.

I looked at the various Gradebooks avaiable such as mygradebook.com,trackmygrades.comthinkwave.comandclssbuilder.com. They all seem to have the common features of generating reports, giving the parents and administrators access, keeping track of attendance and listing upcoming assignments.

From what I saw I think I like mygradebbook and classbuilder the best. Classbuilder gives the option to create a web page and aslo has a Quizmaker to create tests and assessments . Thinkwave has lesson plans which I liked also.
If possible, I might like to keep everything written in a gradebook at first in addition to using the computer until I feel more comfortable. It is a lot of information
I apprecitate Anthony showing me his grading system

There are many grade programs out there. When I first used the one in my school, I was very intimidated by it. I needed lots and lots of help then by practice, I eventually figured it out. Good luck with whatever one you will use. Just ask for help!

Cingy,

My school has been practicing with a program called Power School. In September we will be going live & parents with have access to it.. All of us are a little anxious, but we all agree it will make life easier.

As we said in class Cindy, you probably won't get a choice when you begin your teaching. But I felt it was important for you too see what these programs offer. And if you are able to choose for yourself at least you'll have some familiarity with the ones you looked at for class.
